4/4/1993 Luray VA The Country Waye $12.50 Our first night out. Ellie invited us over for dinner. It took us 2 days to pack out for the trip.
4/5/1993 Luray VA   $12.50 We forgot some things so we had to go back to Clifton. Bought DOS 6 and simcity but now the a drive doesn't work. will work on it later. Got pipe and new step rug from Restless Wheels.
4/6/1993 Luray VA   $12.50 Stayed around the trailer most of the day. Had curt and Ellie over at different times and played Wheel Of Fortune. work on it later. Got pipe and new step rug from Restless Wheels. Frank installed dos 6 on the big computer while tom did minor organizing. Later fixed Curt's camcorder.
4/7/1993 Luray VA   $12.50 We started off to go south today and noticed the battery light on on the truck. That stopped us and we had to replace the alternator. Tom cooked pizza which we took down to the office and everybody enjoyed the evening. We will try to leave again tomorrow. We accused Ellie of sabotaging the truck to keep us here.
4/8/1993 Kingsport TN Warriors Path State Park $12.00 Nice campground on a lake, paved, lots of trees. We finally got going, were going to stay at Clator Lake state park in VA but they were closed so we continued to here. Long drive. Nice weather, high around 75. Rain tomorrow.
4/9/1993 Limestone TN Davy Crockett State Historical Site $12.00 We are back here again. Raining. Got computer cable this morning, and Frank spent the afternoon organizing the large computer and printer.
4/10/1993 Cumberland Gap Ntl. Park VA Wilderness Road Campground $8.00 Not a bad campground. The restroom is clean and has 1 hot free shower. Only 4 other campers here. Visited Cumberland Gap Ntl. Historic Park today. Drove up to the Pinnacle Overlook, a very steep winding road, but what a view. Bought book "Oh Ranger". Nice day, high near 65, clear.
4/11/1993 Caryville TN Cove Lake State Park $12.00 After driving up Lookout road again to take pictures, we left cumberland Gap and headed west toward Big south Fork NRA. We were going to stay there but one of the books said the road was quite steep and winding. This is Easter day and lots of people are picnicking here.
4/12/1993 Trinton GA Cloudland Canyon State Park $12.00 This morning we drove to Big South Fork River Ntl. Rec area. Some beautiful scenery. Fairly new park. This is a nice park. Laundry and clean restrooms. Tonight the total campground fees we have payed since buying the trailer went over ten thousand dollars. Total 10,011.60.
4/13/1993 Trinton GA   $10.00 Drove to see Chickamauga Ntl. battlefield. Saw a big Multi-media production by the Park Association, not very good. Then drove to the park section on top of Lookout Mountain. Beautiful views and a painting of the battle, 30 feet by 60 feet. Then to Russel cave Ntl. Historic site where indians lived as far back as 5000 years ago. Black tank clean out leaks.
4/14/1993 Acworth GA Lake Allatoona Army Rec Area $8.00 This is the best Army camp we have seen. On a lake, well laied out, and paved. Fixed sewer tank cleanout sprayer valves this afternoon. Replaced fresh water inlet with a pressure regulation type.
4/15/1993 Acworth GA   $8.00 This morning we went back to the RV dealer and bought a back flow valve, switches for the rear levelers and a 50 foot extension cord. Then a drive to Kennesaw Mountain Ntl. Battlefield, where a major turning point in the battle for Atlanta occurred. We had server thunder storms and a tornado nearby. But we came through with no damage. Oil changed in truck.
4/16/1993 Alexander City AL Wind Creek State Park $12.48 Very pleasant campground on a large lake. Looking at the water out of our trailer. Tried to stay at a AFB campground, but only 2 sites and kind of tacky. Got mixed up on Atlanta's beltway and had to turn around. Installed new switches in rear leveler, started on new power cord.
4/17/1993 Alexander City AL   $12.48 Drove to see Horse shoe Bend Ntl. Battlefield, where Andrew Jackson defeated indians in 1815. then on to Tuskeggee Inst. Ntl. Historic site. Not a very good museum. Broken up and difficult to learn anything.
4/18/1993 Demopolis AL Foscue Creek Park $10.00 Another pleasant campground on a lake. They have very long sites. Ours is over 100 feet. Tom did laundry yesterday while Frank installed the new power cable. The CD player is broken. It will ride in the back of the truck for the rest of the trip.
4/19/1993 Jackson MS LeFleur's Bluff State Park $10.00 The days are getting hotter. 85 today. Were are back in the same site as we were 865 days ago. Almost as long as the number of days we have spent in the trailer. For some reason we are both kind of angry at the world today.
4/20/1993 Natchez Trace Parkway MS Rocky Springs Campground   We decided to stay here and rest for a day. We took the same site as the first time here, at the bottom of the hill. Today marks a unique situation. For the first time ever, there are no expenses. Rain and thunder storms this afternoon. Met a nice man who is touring the country in a tent.
4/21/1993 Woodworth LA Indian Creek Rec Area $11.00 This is a great campground and site. Right on a beautiful lake. This is our first State Forest campground. We drove the lower portion of the Natchez Trace Pky. and stoped at a new park called Natchez Ntl. Historical Site. An 1844 southern cotton planters mantion. Beautiful and over 14 thousand square feet. Interesting painted canvas floor coverings.
4/22/1993 Jasper TX Martin Dies Jr. State Park $8.00 Well we are back in Texas. Very nice weather. On a large lake, under the trees. Mailed cross stitch pattern to Ellie today at Burkeville Texas, the first town we came to in Texas. We bought a new Texas State Park Conservation Pass.
4/23/1993 Huntsville TX Huntsville State Park $11.00 Not a bad park. Busy. The hookup area is full. Got a new hand held radio today. Frank also got a new straw hat at Wallmart. We tired to call several parks for tomorrows stay, but we got busy signals or they were booked up. Will try some others in the morning.
4/24/1993 Smithfield TX Buscher State Park $8.00 The parks are very busy. In fact this one is full. We drove a park road from this one to a nearby park called Bastrop, 11 miles away. These parks were devolved by the CCC in 1933-36. This makes the 20th Texas state park we have camped in.
4/25/1993 Goliad TX Goliad State Park $9.00 Very nice campground, under the trees with full hookups. The park here has a restored mission where we heard a local quire singing this afternoon. Close by is a fort and grave memorial for almost 400 men killed after surrendering at the battle of Goliad during the Texas Revolution, by Mexican dictator Santa Anna. Cleaned water softener for first time.
4/26/1993 Port Aransas TX Mustang Island State Park $9.00 We are back. the campground is busier this time, about half full. We bought a portable CD player from Circuit City in Corpus Christi for $312, not included in expenses. Got mail at Port Aransas, and another pressure regulator and new water hose. Weather is nice. Called Charlie and Rhonda last night.
4/27/1993 Port Aransas TX   $9.00 We spent most of the day working on the trailer. Tom cleaned while Frank remounted all the electronics, including fastening the CRT to the CPU. We drove to the other side of Corpus Christi this evening and picked up Charlie Dye, Tom's friend, and had dinner at Lubbys, then to the trailer for a visit and took him back to the hotel.
4/28/1993 Port Aransas TX   $9.00 We decided to stay another day. Started this morning by going to Padre Island Ntl. Seashore, then lunch at Lbbys, then toured the Lexington air craft carrier and finally a tour through the Texas State Aquarium. The aquarium was great. Lots of big displays with large windows and a family of rare sea otters. Lots of walking. Frank's new boots hurt.
4/29/1993 Three Rivers TX Choke Canyon State Park South Shore Unt $9.00 Rain today. Very heavy while driving. This campground was built by the Bureau of Reclamation and is managed by the State Park. Tom did laundry this afternoon.
4/30/1993 San Antonio TX Brooks Air Force Base Fam Camp $10.00 Very nice campground, open field some trees wide spaced sites. Got up early this morning, so we could get a site. Got here about 10:30. Tom mailed back flow preventer which we accidentally took back to Mustang Island State Park. Went to BX and Commissary. Drove to Texas RV Supply and got noanotherressure regulator, and more ball oil. Heavy rain and sunny day.
5/1/1993 San Antonio TX   $10.00 Today ew toured San Antonio Missions Ntl. Historic sites. A series of 4 Spanish missions built in the 1700s. Had lunch at Lubys again. The rains have stopped and it is clear and hot. Called Sallie Harrell. Tomorrow we will move on.
5/2/1993 Leakey TX Garner State Park Live Oak $9.00 Quite a nice campground. The weather is getting better. We are near a small river with plenty of trees all around. Drove to Leaky Texas for gas. Last night we had heavy thunder storms that woke us up. This is one of the largest parks we have seen with over 500 sites. Luckly there are only 2 other campers in this section of 64 sites.
5/3/1993 Comstock TX Seminole Canyon State Park $8.00 Well this is our 300th campground. We are on an arid knoll with a grand view. Near here is where the 2nd transcontinental railroad was compleated. Also there are lots of indian pitigraphs. It is hot, 90s, but very dry and windy.
5/4/1993 Big Bend Ntl. Park TX Rio Grande Village $11.00 We arrived about 3:30 and there were actually 2 sites left in the full hookup area. This morning it was cloudy and humid. Later the clouds broke up and it got hot. 115 at 6:15. We saw herd of 12 Havilinas in the overflow campground feeding on the grass. The desert of the last few days has been green and lots of flowers. Had lunch at Frank Harrell Rest Area.
5/5/1993 Big Bend Ntl. Park TX   $11.00 Today we drove through the park and out the other side and on to State road 170 to see a fantastic view along the Rio Grande. Had a picnic at a state rest area with tepees for shade. Bought another cowboy hat in Lajitas at a mertincle store. Bought 2 CDs at visitor center, and mailed post cards.
5/6/1993 Big Bend Ntl. Park TX   $11.00 We went bathing in the hot spring this morning, then spent some time playing with the computer and cleaning the trailer. Tom did laundry, then later we drove to Bocious canyon, then to the Chisos Basin for dinner in the resturant, and finialy a ampitheatre program on plants of the Big Bend area. We got home at 11:15 pm. A full day.
5/7/1993 Fort Davis TX Davis Mountains State Park $11.00 We packed up and left the Big Bend this morning. The air is very hazy and pluited, could only see about 40 miles today. Still hot. We are experiencing problems with the trailer. Things are braking down. The weather station went bad today, and the rear jack which is broken somehow got lowered and won't go back up. Will pull out the crank tomorrow.
5/8/1993 Fort Davis TX   $11.00 This morning we walked around the downtown and looked at shops. Then to Fort Davis Ntl. Historic site and a compleate tour of the fort. Then we drove up to the top of the park road. The air is much clearer than yesterday. Finally dinner at the park resturant and back downtown to buy a book.
5/9/1993 White's City NM Park Entrance RV Park $15.99 We are in the same site again. After leaving Fort Davis, we drove a different route, along Texas 54, for a 54 mile streach only 1 car passed us. At Guadilupe Mountains Ntl. Park we watched as a fire raced up the mountain, distroying large parts of the park. At Carlsbad Caverns we viewed bat flite & talked with ranger working with Eric at Harpers Ferry.
5/10/1993 Roswell NM Bottomless Lake State Park Lea Lake $13.00 This morning we took the short tour of the Caverns because Frank's back was acting up. Met Bill Justice, the ranger working with Eric, again. This time he was collecting ticket money. It looks like the Guadilupi fires are out. This is a nice park, way off the road, with several deep lakes caused by cavern colapes. This is our 301st campground.
5/11/1993 Portales NM Oasis State Park $11.00 This campground is nice but needs new water faucets. We are looking over a sandy plane of grass and can see about 20 miles. We met Lilly checking in and had her over for dinner and watched some of the Ultimate Vacation. Very nice and intelegent lady.
5/12/1993 Canyon TX Palo Duro Canyon State Park $9.00 Nice scenery but camp store is tacky. We picked up mail at Canyon and sent a copy of the Guaudilupi fires to Eric. Lots of wild turkys in the park.
5/13/1993 Amarillo TX Amarillo KOA $17.10 We left Palo Duro Canyon around 2 pm and went to Family Camping Center to have the wheels repacked. We had them repack the wheels 2 years ago. They did a good job on the packing but messed up the brakes. May have to go back tomorrow to get it done right. Also rotated the tires. Trailer has 53,575 miles on it. $83.31 for work. Tom did laundry late.
5/14/1993 Amarillo TX   $17.10 We took the trailer out at 7 this morning to test the brakes, they seem to be working better, so we will not return to the RV deler. We went shoping and Frank got a pair of spurs from Sears. Cleaned the trailer floor. It is the cleanest it has been sence we bought the trailer. Chainged oil in truck. Lunch at Lubbys. Truck seat pillow.
5/15/1993 Kenton OK Black Mesa State Park $10.00 This park is way out of the way. 30 miles to the nearest main road. However it is quite busy. Heavy clouds, good thunder storms, and some light rain this afternoon. Called Charlie this evening. We are in the far western Oklahoma panhandle. Didn't unhook truck because there is no place to go without a 60 mile round trip. Got new smoke detector at Sears.
5/16/1993 Hasty CO John Martin Reservoir $7.00 Nice open campground, overlooking a large dam built in the 30s and 40s. It is cloudy and cool, mid 60s with light winds.
5/17/1993 Colorado Springs CO Golden Eagle Branch Campground $14.20 Another parking lot campground. We are here just to get a Fed X package to refanance the house. It has been raining most of the day. We stopped at Bents Old Fort Ntl Historic site and found the same volunteer and cat that was there 2 years ago. Interesting demonstration by park interperter on fire starting, and bull whip use.
5/18/1993 Colorado Springs CO   $14.20 We processed the house refinance papers and got them mailed back by about 3:00. Then went shoping. got a hat for Shep, new plug for power adaptor, and dinner from the commisary.
5/19/1993 Colorado Springs CO   $14.20 We drove up into the mountains today looking at posible areas to move in about 4 years. We saw some beautiful areas near Woodland Park. Some with beautiful views of Pikes Peak. Property values are much less than DC. Who knows, maybe someday. Bought new shorts for Frank and pants for Tom.
5/20/1993 Golden CO Golden Clear Creek Campground $14.48 Washed trailer this morning, some trailers got stuck in mud. We are on the creek again. Nice. After setting up, mailed Brothers Keeper to Charlie, then to Cmping World and exchanged water softner, bought mug and 10 foot sewer hose. Tomorrow we make discition about rest of trip.
5/21/1993 Golden CO   $14.49 We started off the day by deciding to extend the trip by 1 month. Then we drove to Kaiser to get a prescription for Frank. That took several hours and ended up north of Denver, so we continuned driving up into the mountains tward Nederland. That is a very beautiful place. We may want to live there some day.
5/22/1993 Golden CO   $14.48 This morning we walked around the downtown. Then to Camping World, altemeter, cookbook & velcro. Then a tour of the Coors Brewery, finaly to a western store for a new denim jacket ($55), leather cowboy hat ($37) amd another car hat holder ($13). Expencive day.
5/23/1993 Estes Park CO Spruce Lake RV Park $22.10 After getting setup, we drove into Rocky Mountain Ntl. Park. There is lots of snow on top of the mountains. We were able to drive to 12500 feet elevation. Coming down we saw a herd of big horn sheep. This evening tom made some brownies. Frank is suffering from lack of choclocate.
5/24/1993 Arlington WY KOA Arlington $15.98 Lots of rain and fog today. Tom is driving more. Frank had some type of reaction to something. This is a bad campground even for a KOA.
5/25/1993 Dubois WY Circle-Up Camper Court $17.38 Long drive. We stoped for lunch at Split Rock on the Origon Trail. Later stopped at Crow Hart Bute. This morning we drove through the Grate Devide Basin.
5/26/1993 Grand Teton Ntl. Park WY Colter Bay Trailer Park $18.19 Beautiful. There is lots of snow on the mountains. We took our time leaving this morning, did laundry and got gas and propane for grill. the climb up the pass was slow and hard. Our poor truck is getting old. We are not sure why we didn't stay here 3 years ago but are glad we are here now. Walked to the visitor center where they had problms with projector.
5/27/1993 Grand Teton Ntl. Park WY   $18.19 Today we torued the park. Fantastic scenery as always. Had lunch at Signal Mountain Lodge. Talked to desk ranger for a while. Saw slide show on bald eagles. By the way this is a private campground but sence it is in the middle of the park we are giving credit to another Ntl. park campground.
5/28/1993 Jackson WY Virginian RV Park $24.08 Saw a slide show at the visitors center on the park. Then left and stoped at Snake River Overlook where Tom made Pizza for lunch. Then on to Jackson where we had a hail storm. Earler we looked at the trailer park for seasonal and volunter park workers. Not bad. We could live at one of these for a few months while working for the park.
5/29/1993 Jackson WY   $24.08 This morning was the Old West Days parade. Exciting. Then music, later the best west dressed contest, best beard and best mustashe and fastest draw contests. Later was the rodeo. Interesting but not as well orginized as the last time. The parking was terible and there were people standing in the way and smokers all around us.
5/30/1993 Rockefeller Mem. Pkwy. WY Flagg Ranch $22.47 Frank bought a lariat rope this morning ($10) before we left Jackson. This is a fair campground but needs new pavement. Another private campground but we are giving it a Ntl. Park listing. We are going to take it easy for a couple of days before moving into Yellowstone.
5/31/1993 Rockefeller Mem. Pkwy. WY $22.47 We took it easy today. A little cleaning, some video tapes, and a ride to read some interpretative sighns. We entered Yellowstone Ntl. Park a little way, excatally 3 years to the day from the last time we entered it.
6/1/1993 Yellowstone Ntl. Park WY Fishing Bridge RV Park $19.95 We had a leasurely Day. Did laundry before leaving Flagg Ranch, drove up here slowly. Everyone except 1 person was very friendly. Had a fite with that person about where we were to park. Tom discovered a broken tie lind on the trailers suspencion. will have it fixed here in the park tomorrow morning. Replaced battries in truck innercom. Got fire book.
6/2/1993 Yellowstone Ntl. Park WY   $19.95 We got the right front and left rear shaclle links replaced at 54,806 miles. By then it was almost lunch, after lunch we rented an auto CD tour unit, good technoligy but tacky naration, and drove to Canyon stoping at overlooks and sites along the way. Afternoon showers at Artists Point. But beautiful. Decided to stay 2 more nights. Trailer cost $45.
6/3/1993 Yellowstone Ntl. Park WY   $19.95 Today we toured the lower loop of the park. this included old faithful and the other guisers. We took our time and enjoyed the dirve. Had lunch at Old Faithful Inn. Had a snow storm this morning including several inches where the road crossed the continal devide. Saw bufflo, elk, and marmets.
6/4/1993 Yellowstone Ntl. Park WY   $19.95 Today was the tour of the upper loop. Had lunch at Gardnr, visited the Rangers Museum at Norris, but we had to rush back to get mail which wasn't here, so we could have taken our time. Mamoth hot springs was beautiful. We saw one of the first display shelters in the park system built in 1931 which is on Ntl. regestor of historic places at Obsidian Cliffs.
6/5/1993 Cody WY Ponderosa Campground $16.12 We are getting tired of rain. We arived in time for the rodeo, but got frustrated by ticket sales and decided not to go. Raning anyway. Bought computer interface unit. Had lunch at The Proud Cut. Good hamburger but greasy potatoes. Hopefully the weather will turn better tomorrow.
6/6/1993 Bighorn Canyon Ntl. Rec. WY Horseshoe Bend` $4.00 Did laundry this morning, good dryers. Tried to return extra instructions to video interface. This is a beautiful park. Borrowed a cassette tape tour and drove the park road south section. Fantastic scenery. Had a rain storm. got back to the trailer to find pea size hail all over the place.
6/7/1993 Bighorn Canyon Ntl Rec Ar MT Afterbay   This is a terrible campground for a Ntl. Park. It has been raining heavly all day. Miserable. The big computer broke down today. The battery is not working well. All kinds of things are getting us down. We can't get to the campground data. We are miserable.
6/8/1993 Miles City MT KOA Miles $17.36 We are fealing better today. The weather has turned better. Toured Yellowtail Dam this morning, then Little Big Horn Battle Field Ntl. Mon where we listned to a ranger describe the battle and later a slide show on the 1986 archeolical study. The big comprter is working again. Maybe low voltage. Had dinner at the 519 club in an old bank. Nice KOA
6/9/1993 Theodore Roosevelt Ntl Pk SD Cottonwood $7.00 Nice day finally. Did laundry, shopping this morning. Later watched film at visitor center on Mt. Rushmore and this park. Bought pamplet for park tour which we will take tomorrow morning. This evening will go to campfire program on pairie dogs. We are right next to a water faucet, grait to fill in the morning.
6/10/1993 Theodore Roosevelt Ntl Pk SD   $7.00 We woke up this morning to a bulfflo grazing next to our trailer. We then took the loop dirve, then a tour of Teddy's ranch house the Maltize Cross. Later dumped gray water, filled fresh water, and used the generator with a trial hookup of fast charger. Later we went to a campfire program on the geoligy of the badlads.
6/11/1993 Mandan ND Fort Abraham Lincoln St. Park $12.00 We left fairly early, stopped at the east visitor center and saw a bull snake in a terrerium who laied her eggs last night. This is a nice park, but full with lots of people. It is warmer than last week in Yellowstone. Hit 90 today.May have thunderstorms tonight. Got oil changed in truck. 6/12/1993 Pick City ND Lake Sakakawea St. Park $12.00 We called the Army Corp of Engineers campground before leaving this morning and was assured there would be no trouble getting a site. When we got there they were full, so we went a little futher. This park is nice. Better than the other. Went to Knife River Indian Viliages Ntl. Monumnet, site of several cities of earth lodge remainds from the 8150s.
6/13/1993 Devils Lake ND Graham's Island State Park $12.00 This morning we stopped in Minot ND. and bought a new microwave from Sears. Very windy today. Frank installed the new microwave this evening, had a little trouble with ventlation. Installed an exaust fan behind refrigerator to take care of the heat. This one has a browing element. Nice campground, open field, trees all around, we are all alone.
6/14/1993 Lake Itasca MN Lake Itasca St. Park, Pine Ridge Camp $16.50 Another long drive. Stoped in Grand Forks ND and walked a mall. This is the 3rd most expencive public park we have ever stayed in, plesent though. We had another noise in the truck, finally decided it was a rock in the wheel. This park is at the site of the begning of the Mississippi River. Later we walked across the headwaters at lake Itasca.
6/15/1993 Bemidgi MN Lake Bemidgi State Park $16.50 We had a probem with the truck today. Started yesterday, loud squelling and metalac knocking. Took it to a Ford dealer, had the fan cluch replaced. Frank installed new switches over stove hood.
6/16/1993 International Falls MN (Boarderline) Rocky Pine Campground $11.50 This morning we did laundry then went to look at a statue of Paul Bunyon and Babe the blue ox. We made a wrong turn on US 71 but only went about 7 miles out of our way. After setting up here drove to the Voyagers Ntl. Park visitor center but only had about 20 minutes so will go back tomorrow morning. Rain today, lots of misquitoes. This is our 888 night in trailer.
6/17/1993 Ely MN Silver Rapids Lodge and RV Park $21.25 This is a terible campground concerding the cost, $21. The cable doesn't work and it is very difficult to get into the site, and our site was the longest one around. This morning we went back to the visitor center and looked at the musuem. Very good. the mosquitoes and black flys are horrendous.
6/18/1993 Grand Marais MN Grand Marais Recreation Area $18.62 Much better campground, but still expensive. We are a couple hundred feet from lake Superior. We had another accident with the refridgerator. Very bumpy road, it took Tom about 15 minutes to clean up the broken beer bottle.
6/19/1993 Grand Marais MN   $18.62 This morning we drove up to Grand Portage adn visited Grand Portage Ntl. Monument, a reconstructed trading fort of the North Western Company. We couldn't go to Isle Royal because that is an all day or more boat ride and didn't have the time.
6/20/1993 Washburn WI Memorial Park Campground $12.00 Long drive today. We were following just behind rain the entire day, misting, & drizzle. Stopped at Apostle Islands Ntl. Seashore visitor center. This is a very nice park although quite wet today. Woodalls was wrong again, no water or sewer hookups. It is clearing this evening.
6/21/1993 Munising MI Munising Tourist Park $12.00 A very long drive today. This is a nice campground right on lake Michigan. We traded off driving every 50 miles today.
6/22/1993 Sleeping Bear Dunes Ntl. MI D.H. Day $8.00 We went into Picture Rocks Ntl. Lakeshore this morning. Walked to Munisung falls, beautiful, then to park headquarters and a maritime trail exibit. We decided to push longer to stay in this park. Just after putting the money in the campground slot, Frank discovered the other park campground has electric hookups. Oh well, next time.
6/23/1993 Farwell MI Evergreen Acres $12.00 This morning we went to the visitor center, watched a good Haselblad slide show, then drove the scenic drive. Then we left Sleeping Bear Dunes Ntl. Lakeshore, stoping to look at their new campground with electric hoolups. Had dinner at a local resturant.
6/24/1993 Fayette OH Harrison Lake State Park $11.00 We left fairly early this morning. This is our 2nd Ohio state park and they both were well layed out and emaculately kept. Frank built relay control box this evening.
6/25/1993 Manchester OH Baughman Family Campground   Stopped at a truck axle straightning shop, will take the trailer back on monday. Pat now has cable. The entire family came over this evening for dinner. The big computer is out again.
6/26/1993 Manchester OH     This morning we all drove to Campgin World and got a new vent cover for kitchen, new 50 foot hose, and a 30 amp outlet for Pat's basement. Frank installed the outlet now we have a perminant outlet here. Later we went to Swinsons for lunch then to Brad's for a visit. Got the big computer working again, seems to be a loose connection.
6/27/1993 Manchester OH     This morning Tom and Frank drove around Akron looking at the sights. Later The entire family came over for lunch of Belgrades chicken. Then took pat to Builders Square, bought her a new dining room lamp and installed it.
6/28/1993 Manchester OH     We left early and took the trailer to the frame alighment shop. The shop set the left side to +?? and the right side to +??. Then to the tire shop for 4 new tires on the trailer and 2 new rear tires on the truck. Trailer milage for frame work was 57751 and new tires was 577756 Had lunch at swinsons & dumped tanks at an RV dealer. Tonight is # 900 in the trail
6/29/1993 Mount Morris PA Mount Morris Campground $12.60 Laundry this morning. The big computer is working again. Said good by to Pat, Jay, and Lee. We seem to have lost the pressure regulator. Will have to clean out the back of the truck. The new tires work fine but we are having some fish-tailing, will have to work on that.
6/30/1993 Hagerstown MD KOA Hagerstown/Snug Harbor $21.37 We are nearing Washington again. The local cable has channel 9. This mouning we drove to Friendship Hill Ntl. Historic site, the home of our third secreatry of treasury. We are having lots of trouble with the trailer fishtailing.
7/1/1993 Luray VA The Country Waye $16.15 Rain today, hard drive even if only 90 miles. Found Ellie and Curt in good helth, we took them dinner in the evening.
7/2/1993 Luray VA   $16.15 We drove back to the house today, found everything good except couldn't get the cars started. Tom's battery was dead, and Frank's ignition was wet. Later experimented with driveway detector, will install it next week.
7/3/1993 Luray VA   $16.15 Took Curt & Ellie lunch and dinner. Frank drove to Winchester to Lows. Very hot an humid today. Some showers.
7/4/1993 Luray VA   $16.15 A hot and humid day. Frank striped the trailer toung and repainted it, but the wrong color, will have to get it right. Also finished constructing the driveway detector boxex for Curt. Tom cleaned and cooked.
7/7/1993 Luray VA   $16.00 We left the trailer here for several days, Frank had to return yesterday to get medicine. Long spell of very hot and humid weather. We got here tonight at a little before 9:00 pm.
7/8/1993 Luray VA   $16.00 More heat and humidity. We striped the trailer toung of parts and sanded and painted it. Some problems with afternoon shower but turned out ok.
7/9/1993 Luray VA   $16.00 More humidity and heat, near 100. Finished up the toung work, rewired fuse box, trailer hookup, and got O-3 gauge wire connected to the inverter, works much better. Tom took truck to Hairsonburg to get oil, transmission, and diff changed. Problem with transmission slipping, will take it back tomorrow.
7/10/1993 Luray VA   $16.00 Still more heat and humidity. Took the truck back to Jiffy Lube in Harrisonburg, they drained the transmission, and replaced the filter, whatever was wrong is corrected. Pulled wire through traffic sensor for curt, he will burry it this week. Curt & Ellie had us over for dinner tonight. This is the last night of our 3 month 1993 trip.
