This is my friend Scott's home in Maine. I try to visit them often because not only do I enjoy their company (Scott, Sally and Daniel), but their scenery is one of the best in the country.
Here is a typical nearby frozen lake with ice fishing in progress.
And the typical ice house to keep warm while fishing. Some ice houses have holes in the ice floor and the fishermen stay inside, nice and warm, while fishing and er...ah, drink beer.
This is the Jordan Pond House in Acadia National Park on Mount Desert Island near Bar Harbor, Maine. They serve great meals here, plus there is an afternoon tea and pasteries on the lawn, if you so choose.
This shot is taken from the Jordan Pond House looking at ...are you ready for this.... Jordan Pond. The 2 mountains in the distance are call the Bubbles.
Here at the Jordan Pond House is one of the places my friend Scott works. He builds and maitains traditional English Gardens. Here are some of his flower pots near a snow drift.
Scott builds his English Garden about ten feet wide and the length of the Jordan Pond House. It is beautiful to see at peak season.
A scenic shot near one of the properties Scott maintains.
One of Scott's "to be trimmed in the spring" trees. He identies them in the fall and winter and then trims in the spring.
This mangificent home is rarely used by its owner, but still needs to be maitained year round.
This is Scott, sunglasses and all. It is quite bright on a sunny day with snow reflectivity.
Even in the winter Scott can do some pruning. He does what he can, and leaves the remainder for spring.
Here is Scott in the tree pruning as well as he can. Notice how clear the blue sky is. Fortunately, there is little polution here.
All curled up in the snow is Scott's dog Pepper. His black coat helps keep him warm up here.
Again, Scott in the tree trimming.
Another view of this magnificent home.
Small mountain streams cause this cascading effect as they flow and freeze over the rock formations.
Here is a frozen cascade near a road at Somes Sound.
Another beautiful picture of the frozen ice sculture.
A final picture of Scott prunning.
A beautiful, breath-taking view of the sea as seen from one of the many vantage points on the island.
Again you can see why I mentioned the beautiful scenery. This place is truely awesome.
